Thoroughbred licences

Do I need to undertake a medical assessment?

You need to provide a completed medical assessment form when applying or renewing your licence as a:

  • Jockey
  • Apprentice Jockey
  • Track rider
  • Trainer riding your own trackwork.

Where do I get the medical assessment form for the doctor to fill out?

The medical assessment form is available on the QRIC website, under Licencing and ownership > Thoroughbred > Licensing:  https://www.qric.qld.gov.au/licensing-and-ownership/thoroughbred/licensing/

This form needs to be completed before renewing your licence.  You will need to attach the document as a PDF or JPG file to your online application.

What happens after I submit an application?

Once all provided documentation is verified, your application might be forwarded to the Integrity Investigation Team (IIT) to arrange a stable inspection if required.  A member of the IIT will contact you to arrange a time to conduct inspections.
Once premises are deemed satisfactory, applications will proceed and finalised.  The timeframe associated with this process can range from 2-5 weeks.
